The questions below will help us determine your qualifications for a business analyst position at our large law firm.
We would like a recent college graduate with 6 months to 3 years experience.
If you answer these questions for the most part in the affirmative please forward your resume.
1) Do you have extensive SQL experience? Do you write queries from multiple data sources and link tables together?
2) Have you written data dictionaries or are you very familiar with them?
3) In the course of your experience how many SQL statements have you written? Someone that has done 100s of them is a good candidate, someone that responds with 10-20 or so isn`t experienced enough for the analyst role.
4) In what capacity have you written SQL statements? How many hours of the day were you writing SQL statements?
5) Which types of SQL statements have you written, what categories?
Data, Excel, Access and Macros Questions
1) Have you written and modified macros? What kind of efficiencies were you trying creating by writing macros?
2) Do you have experience with v lookups and writing formulas in excel? (A programming background would be excellent, like C++, visual basics and AS400)
3) Do you enjoy working with Spreadsheets and data for 3-4 days per week? If so, what do you like about it? (A background as a systems analyst, business analyst, reporting analyst or report author would be excellent)
The Analyst Role Moving Forward
Going forward the Analyst role may include creation of online forms and online databases, or just being able to assemble a document of requirements to create these forms. This would lessen the administrative aspect and create more efficiency for the e-Business Department as a whole. A business analyst and/or systems analyst would likely have this type of experience
